The electric light at Watson’s Hotel gives complete satisfaction. It is now said that only half the shares in the Mutual Insurance Company have been applied for. On Thursday a public trial of Mr Moody’s screw pulveriser will take place in a paddock at Sea View. Messrs Bourne and Co., have recovered one of the anchors near the City of Cashmere, and 150 fathoms of cable.

A weil-nttendled meeting of graziers and business people was held at Freeman Jackson’s office, Wanganui, yesterday, re meat refrigerating. It was stated that influence would probably; be brought to bear on the Goldfields Committee against the Company’s application, and steps were taken to counteract it by telegraphing to members of such Committee.
