NEW ZEALAND. (Pbb Pbbbs Association.) Painful Accident. ChbisxchOrch, July 18. A serious accident happened at Lyttelton this morning to an apprentice on board the barque Oregon, named John Brytner. He had been on watch during the night, and at about six this morning, went from the galley towards the forecastle, and was not again seen until eight o’clock, when he was found lying at the bottom of the fore hold, having fallen some 17ft or 18ft. He has sustained concussion of the brain, and a severe scalp wound over the temple. The Electric Light in DunedinDunedin, July 18. Messrs Watson Bros.intend lighting their hotel by a combination of Swan and Joel electric lights. A Morgue JNeededInvebcaroidi., July 18. In connection with the recent death on board the Te Anau, people at the Bluff complain about bodies being landed and placed in hotels for inquest, the causa of death not being certified to by a medical man; as disease might thus be readily introduced. The need for a morgue is urgently felt. In the •present case the body lay in a hotel from Friday till Tuesday, and then, as the Steamship Company refused to taka it back to Dunedin (for which deceased had a ticket), it had to be sent overland by the train.
