The thousand yards swimming championship of Scotland was, on 23rd September, a second time competed for in the Dundee baths. E. Bertram won, in 17min, 6sec.; H. Fox second, by eight seconds ; A. Brasseau cleared 6 feet 1 inch in a running high jump, and 21 feet in a running long jump. These are among the best records in the world.

Lord Arlington gave him £2OOO to ride Bend Or in the Cambridgeshire and win.
