Bowling Notes.
(By "Rougbie.")
Perfect weather for bowling was enjoyed at Apia last Saturday, but only a dozen bowlers participated in the games. Two others arrived in time for afternoon tea: one had been busy book-keepiug and the other had fallen asleep. Sixteen others, who seut in ueither explanation nor apology, were fined (or if they were not they should have been!) A rare tussle took place in a game for the Nichol Game Cocks, held by Crawford and Fricker (skip). The challengers, Lofley and Tattersall (skip), scored five to nil in the first two heads, but thereafter the holders got the weight of the green, and at the sixth head they led 7—3. A handful'to Tattersall then made the score B—7; the tenth head ended Tattersall 13, Fricker 9; »ut on the fifteenth end Fricker was only one point behind. He was one point ahead on the 19th head (16—15), but a two and a one to Tattersall in the concluding heads gave victoiy to the challengers by 18 —16. In a "friendly," Franzen, Yallop, Buss and Sutherland (skip) carried too many touchers for Winter, Goudy, Westbrook and Brown (skip), though the game was well contested until the last three heads, 13 all being recorded at one stage. Sutherland, however, was the stronger finisher, and he brought his team home with a four-points win. It is hoped that players who have not yet played off their games in the third round of the Singles Championship will endeavour to do so during the next few days, as this competition has spread over some seven or eight months already.
