Women's Institutes
NORTH ALBERTLAND
The usual monthly meeting of the above Women's Institute was held in the Sports Hall on Tuesday, February 25th. The proceedings opened with the singing of the Institute ode. There was a fair attendance of members and visitors present, all being welcomed in a short address by the president. Among the correspondence dealt with was a letter from Mrs Black more, president of the A.D F.W.I. Besides essential information, the letter'expressed kindly wishes and greetings and a fund of good advice. Miss Hodgson conveyed a request from the residents of Te Arai Point, to the effect that they wished to join the Institute in dispatching parcels to the forces overseas. This request was acceded tn, nnfl Miss Hodgson was appointed to collect the parcels. A recitation was rendered by M<s Hps. Simpson and was well received. The latter part of the afternoon was de_voted to a "bring and buy" effort to raise funds for soldiers' parcels. The trade table was well patronised and a substantial sum was realised. A competition "Knowledge of New Zealand," brought by Mrs Les. Simpson, was won by Miss Hodgson. Afternoon tea was served, the hostesses being Mrs Davis and Mis G. Vipond. The meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
