Druids' Annual Picnic
The members of the Star of Al bertland Lodge held: their animal picnic at Martin's Bay on Satur day last. About twenty cars and" one lorry made the trip and in spite of the easterly wind an enjoyable day was spent. A midday tide made conditions good for swimming and many of the children were in several times. l v the afternoon 1 mining sports for vpung and old were held'on the firm sand and all the children who started in the races receivers, prize. ** M etalling Work. Good progress is now being made with the metalling.of the Port Albert-Kaiikapakapa main highway on the Wharehine section, and also on Worker's access road at Wellsford. The bulk of the metal is being crushed at the Rodney County Council's quarry at Mt. Brame. After these jobs are completed a good quantity of metal will be needed for the main roads in the Albert Riding.
