The heavy tropical rain on the Ist inst. caused the biggest flood ever known in the district. The water was three feet higher on the road to Hoteo than it has ever been. The damage caused by the flood, slips and gale on the Sunday was very considerable, fowlruns going west, many sheds (some with cars in), the goods shed at Hoteo with 30 tons of slag, haystacks, hay crops, gear of all sorts! fences by the mile, land by the many acres, gardens galore, roads and railway, telephone lines, butterfat from cows that were not milked and some from cows that were milked, sheep cattle and pigs, were lost.
