INFLAMED EYES

When the eye is inflamed it should be bathed in water as hot as can be borne, and' a little eye water of camphor and borax, which can. be obtained at any druggist's, put it in. with a glass eye dropper. The bathing should Infrequently repeated.

If the inflammation is excessive, as after a cinder has been removed from the eye which has been there for some little time, a little vaseline put inside the lower lid, where it mclt s and spreads over the eyeball, often give? ease at once. A few drops of pure oil, salad oil, or castor oil, may be used, and will have a good effect.

If a foreign substance of any kind gets into the eye the lid never should be rubbed, a 3 that only drives it more firmly into the eyeball. If the unaffected is rubbed the other eye moistens systematically, and the offending particle may come out. / Sometimes parting the upper and lower lid with the thumb and finger will cause 3 rush of tears which washes it away.

If this doe s not succeed the lower lid may be gently drawn down, and if the speck is in that neighbourhood it can be seen and removed with a soft handkerchief. If it is not in sight the lashes of the upper lid may be held in the right hand, a pencil laid above them with the- left, and the lid ttirned upon the pencil; if this brings tJi^B mote into view it cai? be taken out with the handkerchief.
