TREATMENT FOR DYSPEPSIA
Regular hours for meals. Light, nutritious diet. Avoidance of starchy foods, such as potatoes, green vegetables, alcohol, pastry, shell-fish, salt meat, &c. Among elderly people dyspepsia is often brought about by defective mastication or by defective secretion of the gastric juice. In such cases the food should be minced well, and a little whisky and water be given at meal times. Tea is to be avoided.
