Mr Reed, in a long opening address; pointed out the grpat need for additional accommodation at Matamata, and stressed the advantage of having licensed premises under the control of the Licensing Committee instead of the present method of obtaining liquor in bulk fiom outside districts, with its attendant evils. There are some sixteen witne ses to examine and the hearing will no doubt be protracted.
