CRICKET.

ENGLISH TEAM FOR AUSTRALIA.

London, Juno 24

Performances in the first half of the cricket season show' that Hobbs, Hendreu and Hearno will certainly be invited to go to Australia. Hendren’s consistency is remarkable, being equally sound in attack and defence. He lias splendid stamina and is a fir it rate versatile fieldsman. Hendren is unprofessional footballer, but informed the Australian Press Association that he would gladly forego the football season for an Australian'tour. Hobbs and Hearne do not foresee difficulty in going. Rhodes is sure of an invitation for bowling alone, though he' is also high in the batting averages. He bad reverted to bis old place as the outstanding towler in England. Warner considers Rhodes is still indiaponsible for the tests on present bowling form, though it is twenty years since ho first toured Australia. Rhodes told the Australian Press Association that he hopes to renew pleasant acquaintances with Australian cricket. Woolley is another certainty on ail round form. Among the amateurs J W H T Douglas and D Knight stand out and are sure to receive invitations it current form is maintained.
