"ESSENTALLY PRUSSIAN."
METHODS OF REPUBLICANS
WILSON'S SOTS OF DEFIANCE
Unite'. Press Association-By Electric Telegraph Cop'--light. NEW YORK, June 17.
The "New York World's" Washington correspondent interviewed President Wilson, who said:—"The gentlemen selected by the Republicans for President and vice-President harmonise admirably with the plattorm processes Toy which the Republican platform is evolved and which are essentially Prussian. The Republicans should have quoted Bismarck and Bernhardt instead of Washington and Lincoln. Every charge directed against my administration was obviously designed to becloud the paramount issues confronting the people of the United States, and to make the violation of the obligations assumed by America of small conseoucnee. "I have no way of anticipating the probable trend of sentiment at the coming Democratic Convention, or of forecasting the ultimate conelus on of that body, but I am confident that the delegates wil express readiness to permit the peopleito.decide between the vague, ambiguous decorations of the Republicans and positive definite expressions of! tne Democrats. The League of Nations Ses too deep to permit political trickerv to evade moral and ftumamtarian responsibilities. The Republican Convention's thinly veiled rejection of the It nciple of the League of Nations will not fool anvone. I defy the Republican Partv to prove that the power t'?ven to the Government during the war was ever unjustly used agamrt ti£ Tieople or that anyone was ever uniustly Piuiished for expressing an unjustij t ,ux believe mv course opinion. I do not believe u»-> calls for an apology of an* nd . Republican, not the Democratic Part, was responsible for any bad eftects which resulted from the *»lure ot «je Senate to ratify the Treaty and the League. The Republican olic> ot negation has been continued foi t..e «r»le rjurpose of winning the comui = Presidential election. The Democratic Convention will have a nurato o excellent men from whom to select. President, and vice-President. I do r,o- want to express rfn opinion regard-Si-Either the individuals or the platJS?m which might tte minds of the delegates, whose votes will ultimately decide the selection.
