MUTUAL FIRE INSURANCE.
The annual general meeting of the Mutual Fire Insurance Association was held at Feildiug on 315th May. The chairman of directors, Mr J. Balsillie, presided, the directors present beiug Sir James Wilson, T Moss, W B Matheson, A Howie, H A Kevins and H Booth. Twenty-live members of the Association were also in attendance. The chairman referred to the death of Mr W J Birch, one of the original directors of the Association, and who had rendered valuable services tor so many years. A resolution of condolence was passed. The annual report and balancesheet was read, showing an increase of £(55S> in premium income as compared with previous year. The total insurances now hold by the Association amount to £554,000. The report of the accident brancn also showed good progress being made, the accident risks now held amounting to £04,147. Now business amounted to £IB,OOO. The directors were re-elected with the addition of Messrs GL Marshall and Leland Smith to till the vacancies. A resolution was passed recommending the directors to appoint the organising secretary of the Wanganui sub-provincial district as agent for the Mutual Insurance for the whole of that district. It was als® decided to urge the directors to make tha advantages of the Mutual Fire more known to members of the Farmers' Union and urge branches to take up the matter. A hearty vote ,of thanks was accorded the dlrcetors for their past services.
