MARTON-FRIDAY. “THE WHITE HEATHER.” Maurice Tourneur’s new Paramount • Artcraft "special picture, “The White Heather,” will be screened at Everybody’s on Friday. Unusual interest is attached to the production for a number of reasons. First, because it is the first production coming from Mr Tourneur in months; second, it is the first picture made by the director in California; third, it is described as the best of the melodramas made by the producer of “The Whip,” “Sporting Life,” “Alias Jimmy Valentine” and other screen thrillers. When Mr Tourneur took his entire studio staff to California lie selected “The White Heather” as his first production. The background of the melodrama is divided between the Scotch Highlands, the London financial district, tbe slums and the .ocean. The story revolves around the efforts of an unscrupulous nobleman to repudiate his marriage to a J pretty commoner, the only record of the ceremony being in the wreck of a yacht at the bottom of the sea. “The White Heather” culminates in a death struggle between the hero and the villain at the bottom of the sea, both trying to get possession of the fateful paper looked within a watertight chest. These scenes were actually taken on the ocean floor off San Pedro Harbour, Mr Tourneur utilizing the newest sub sea photographic inventions of the Williamson Brothers. THE MARVELLOUS OREMONAS. The above heralded combination appear in Marton Town Hall on Tuesday next. The Press are unanimous in their praises of the entertainment. One paper says: It would be hard to say just where the charm lies of the performance of this talented family, but unquestionably they have a great hold on the public. The performance, besides being on a high level artistically, is so unconventional, anft none of the usual stage tricks are in evidence. They have the gift of giving an air of refinement in all they do, and they do so muon, and always win a friendly feeling from an audience. Popular prices are announced.
