Per Press Assosiation Christchurch, March 23 A Belgian woman named Jane Beck was brought rather sharply to recogl nition of the requirements of New Zealand’s alien registration laws by being brought before Mr McCarthy, 3.M, in the Magistrate’s Court today charged with being an alien who, being required to be registered under the Registration of Aliens Act, 1917, failed to make application for { registration within the time and in the manner prescribed by that Act. Senior-Sergeant Cummings , said I the defendant stated that she thought it was unnecessary to register as an alien ’in the ordinary way, as she was a Belgian, and Belgium was an Ally!
