WOMEN AND CHILDREN.
The sale held ou Saturday last in aid of the funds of the Marton branch of the Royal IS. Z. Society for the Health of Women and Children ■was a great success and has resulted in just over £4O being added to the resources of the branch. The committee are most grateful to all who helped them on their special day, both by donations in money and by gifts of goods for'sale, and also to all those who came to help the cause by buying The beautiful flowers brought in and the vegetables from the Show found ready purchasers, The cake presented by Mr Gould and the ham were great attractions. The results of the weight-guessing competitions were as follows:—Oake 81bs 10oz., won by Mrs Rarton, Marton Junction, who guessed exact weight. Marrow 311bs 14oz, won by Mrs Oburchex, rleaton Park, Ham 121bs This was won by a ticket put in by an unknown friend for the Piunket Society, the weight given being 13%1b5. Two other patrons guessed the weight at 12%1b5, namely Mrs Howden and Mr Wausbrough. , On a draw being made by a bystander the Piunket Society was found to be the winner, which meant that a substantial sum was added to the day’s takings.
