THE PRICE OF HIDES.

Wellington, Jan 27. The Prime Minister had a conference to-day with the representatives of those interested in the price of hides, the purpose being to disc over, if possible, some more satisfactory arrangement than that in force for controlling the price of New Zealand leather. The conference occupied most of the day. At the conclusion Mr Massey said the subject had been most fully discussed, and all sides of the question had been heard—that of farmers, freezing companies, tanners, to manufacturers, and the general public, as represented by the Board of Trade. He intended to put the evidence before Cabinet with a recommendation as to what should be done. There were many matters .jn connection with the problem which Cabinet, would have to consider, He hoped to get the business before Cabinet in a day or two.
