EDUCATION BOARD.

Wanganui Education Board, met last evening. Present: Messrs Fred Pirani (chairman), Fraser, Collins, Bruce, Joblin, Piikington, Mclntyre, Hemingway and Bryant. The Chairman, in his report, stated The Government has made grants for the erection of a new school at Kakariki, and for additions to the Lyttou Street School (Feildiug). In addition to these works the archatect is waiting to proceed with new schools at Bainesse and Moawhango, for which grants were made some time ago. The great difficulty experienced In securing labour and supplies is causing delay. Members may, ‘j howveer, rest assured that every elfort is being made to push on these and other works. RESIGNATIONS.

The following were received:—A. Prideaux, pupil teacher, Patea; B. McDougal* sole teacher, Moawhango ; R. Rathbone, sole teacher, Taumata; H. Mikkeison, cookery instructress. PRINCE OF WALES’ V SIT.

On the motion of Mr Bruce it was decided;—That the secretary write to ,thp Prime Minister and Minister of Education, recommending that when the itinerary and ceremonial functions for the approaching visit of the Prince of Wales are being arranged full consideration will be given to the young people—his future subjects—especially those in the smaller townships, where the children in the outlying areas can be assembled.

MISCELLANEOUS. It was decided to get a report on a school site at Mount Biggs. It was resolved to re-open the school at Moumahaki. It was decided to get a report on the need of a teacher's residence at Raukura, near Taihape. It was decided to thank the Cosmopolitan Club or a donation of £3B 3s 6d for prize funds. It was resolved to get the inspector to report on a proposal to establish a district high school at Ohakune.
