BOY SCOUTS.
In connection with the shooting for the Challenge Shooting Cup, Colonel Cosgrove has sent the following letter to Miss Wilson, the Scoutmistress at Bulls .—■
“Dear Madam.—l too regret that your Troop w r as unable to put the required number of candidates on the field on two shoots. This has put youi boys out of the competition. The result of the competition was as under: —Avonside 655, Thames 620, Hunterville 592. Bulls, Thames Sea Scouts and Merivale failed to qualify. Bulls led by 24 points in the first two shoots and should have won had your two boys not been away. Leader More, of Avonside, and E. Broughton, of Bulls, each scored 118 points whilq E. Brodie, of Thames, scored 115. I enclose an advance copy of new conditions from which 3 ? ou will see that the competition is open to any 10 boys from a Troop or camp: and items making it easier for S. M. to compete while provision is made for absentees. Though ten boys compete, only the eight highest scores in each competition are to count. The sighter now is optional. Some boys make a five as sighter, and do not see the bull’s-eye again. In future an in ■ dependent supervisor must be on the range.— Yours siucerelv, D. COSGROVE.
