Senator Lodge, in a statement, declared that a decisive majority of the Senate would vote that reservations he attached to the ratification resolution. The Treaty reservations •were most unequivocal, effectively protecting the peace, safety, sovereignty, and independence of ihe IJnited States, Americanising of the Treaty would at the same time serve the cause of general peace work.
