SOLVING THE HOUSING PROBLEM

A BIG SAVING OF DOMINION TIMBER. In addition to the Government and public interest taken in the conservation of our Dominion timbers, it is not generally known to what very considerable extent this conservation is being secured by the perfecting of “Konka” concrete sheet building construction. In the early history of the new article progress was naturally slow, Tbut the perfecting of the system soon opened the eyes of the building trade to the fact that a very simple durable building material had been patented. As a result architects and builders are now using “Konka” freely with results far superior to that of timber and far less costly than brick or full concrete, and yet giving the similar results in'permanence and low maintenance. 'lt will no doubt be a surprise to many to know that sales have recently increased over 100 per cent, and that alreadv considerably over 500,000 feet of “Konka” have been used in Wanganui and district alone, so conserving that quantity of clean timber, and yet giving better results. Applications from all parts of the Dominion are pouring in to Messrs Bassett Jand Co., Ltd., Wanganui—the Dominion manufacturers for the patentee—-for information regarding “Konka,” while the Government is also interesting itself in the matter, and lias already called for tenders for construction in “Konka.” Bassett and Co., Ltd,, will furnish free “Konka” booklet on application.
