MARTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

MEETING LAPSES. NO QUORUM. : The fortnightly meeting of the above Conncil'was called tor Monday evening at 7.30, at which time the Mayor (Mr F. C Wilson) end Ora. J. Hunter and J. Wilson had put in an appearance. After waiting for quarter of an hour, the Mayor glanced through tbs correspondence, and stated that there were several matters which must be attended to, otherwise they wonld be too late to serve their purpose. With the sanction of the two councillors the following correspondence was dealt with:—

From St. Stephen’s, Marton, asking for permission to hold the annual secondary school picnic in the Marten Park on Saturday, March Ist. —Granted. From Jn». McGregor, applying for a connection wit ? > the town supply. —Granted on usual conditions. From Nga Tawa School, asking for a water connection from the town supply in the paddock directly opposite the school gates, as the creek is quits dry. They would also be glad to know if. in the event of fchier making a swimming bath, tha borough would he able to supply the water.—Permission was granted to connect *>nth i:he town supply, but the question of water for the baths was held over. From S. Skerman, applying for a refund of an outside wacer service, namely, £3, as the water has never been laid on.—Granted. From secretary of Citizens’ Band, applying for the use of Marton Park on Sunday, March 2nd, to give a massed hand performance by the Feilding and Citizens’ Band; also permission to take up a collection to cover expenses.—Granted. From Secretary Marton District High School, thanking Council for having nnoertakrn the laying down of the cricket pitch on ;he school ground, which is verv much appreciated by the committee, teachers and the boys.—Received. From secretary Mangahao HydroElectric Fewer League, stating that the Minister of Public Works would visit tha site of the above works on Friday, 28tb February, and asking if the Borough Council would be represented. —The Mayor will represent the Council. From Wanganui Hospital and Charitable stating that a meeting of the Board will bs held on Wednesday next for the purpose of setting up committees, and making ail necessary arrangements to combat the epidemic should another wave visit the Dominion, and asking the Council to send in a representative—The Mayor will attend tha meeting
