Ihe Minister of Internal Affairs stated to-day that be had submitted to Cabinet proposals for the Peace Celebrations, and the draft has been approved with slight modifications. The celebrations will be on Sunday Monday and Tuesday after peace has been proclaimed. The two latter days will be public holidays, lue Government appeals to 'employers to grant employees, domestic and industrial, all possible leave during the celebrations and to pay full wages and salaries on celebration days.

Sunday will be a day of thanbsgiving, appropriate services InlnK held, Monday will be “soldiers* day and be devoted to m litarv processions, etc. School ouildren will he massed at suitable points. At noon on Monday a silent, bareheaded tribute for one minute will be paid to the brave dead; all trains and trams will temporarily cease running and all employment cease. In the afternoon there will be military reviews, tournaments, etc. Returned soldiers will wear their uniforms, and be placed in positions of honour.

The third day will be children’s day.

On Monday and Tuesday there will be illuminations and bonfires Subsidies to locil bodies will' he 30s in the £ for £IOO whether the expenditure be ont of ordinary inuds or by voluntary contributions; £7ao a 12s 6d subsidy; £SOO a 15s subsidy; £250 a 17s 6d subsidy; £IOO or less 20s, The Government will, in addition, provide the railway fares ot returned soldiers to the nearest city or town, and railway fares of children from rural districts to the nearest city or town.
