CAVALRY PARTICIPATION IN THE BATTLE.

The first detailed accounts of the cavalry’s participation in the early stage of the battle, state that the capture of Harbonnieres was a notablv dashing feat. The villag was strongly defended by machine suns. A direct attack would have been useless, and the cavalry were ordered to make a wide detour with a view to reaching Yauvillera behind Harbonnieres. . The plan succeeded, almost w Allout casualties. Yanvillea was seized with seven hundred prisoners, and Harbonnieres was thus easily captured.
