The New York Times’ Washington correspondent fstates that Mr Baker, illustrating'the eagerness of American corps to enter the conflict, told correspondents that troopers of a Chicago regiment, with the Austrians, when forbidden to take part in tho Australian attack against Hamel, on Apiil 7th, because the commander considered their training insufficient, borrowed Australian uniforms and took part in the capture of Hamel, side uy side with Ausraiians. It is presumed they were the same American soldiers, wh» according to press despatches, were decorated by King George for aiding in the capture of Hamel.
