GLOOM IN GERMANY.

BEGINNING OF REPENTANCE The Hamburger Kachrichten declares ‘that Germany’sireverses on the Marne and the Somme have produced deep emotion, and advises Hertling to support the project for a League of Nations. This demand seems strange, but the Westfalische Zeitung, which is equally Imperialistic, supports the demand, explaining that it must be coupled with the independence of Ireland, Egypt and other portions of the British Empire.
