The early racing wlis particularly good. A downpour after the Newmarket converted the betting ring into a lake. Rain was continuous thereafter, and spoilt everything. Results:— Pines Hurdles.—Kiniark ], Single Barrel 3, Kabwyk 3. Twenty-one started. Won by a head, a neck between second and u tbird Time, 3min 4Ssec. St. Leger,—Prince Viridis 1, Bronzetti 2, Broken Glass 3. Also ran; Thrice and Dunhulm. Won by In If a head. Newmarket Handicap.—Cettigne 1, Poltrina 3, Wedge s 3. Scratched: Amans and Amadio. Won by half a length, a neck between second and third. Time, Imiu 13^sec. Flemington Sires’ Produce Stakes. —Palm Leaf 1 Outlook 3, Liquid Fire 3.' Five starters. Won all the wav. Essendon Stakes —Wallace Isinglass 1, Lanins 2, Lingle 3. Only starters. Brunswick Stakes —Defence 1, Semiblue 2, Red Pennant 3. Sixteen starters. Won easily. BIPLANE AND DESERT GOLD, Sydney March 3. The proposal mooted’ to arrange a meeting between Biplane and Desert Gold m Australia is arousing considerable interest. The Sun states that a cable to Mr Greenwood brought a reply after Biplane’s defeat by Estland, that the colt fit present was unfit to compete with Desert Gold.
