SOLDIERS’ PROTEST. For a long time the soldiers have been agitating about the quality of tho mufti clothing served to them on discharge. If a man wishes ho may have “Os instead cf a suit of clothes bur no sort of a clothes can bo bough! for this sum. A letter was receiied by the War Relief Assoc iit ion yesterday from the Returned Soldiers' Association stating that this body as asking for a conference of represent.tiers of t!m Returned Soldiers’ Association, the Advisory Boards, and tho Defence Department. The request of the association is that tho mufti allowance be raised from £1 JOstoxo. “From what I can make out,’ 1 said the chairman, Mr Tripp, “the Government could give tho men a decent suit of clothes, mad savo money as welt. Tho Government gives the anon uniforms and under--clothing now to the value, I understand, of £11.” Mr Lewis: What is tho idea of tho Government giving n man two suits of kh.-ki if he is not allowed to wear them?

On tho motion of Mr Luke, tho executive of the i ssociatioh decided to support t!-a request of the Returned Soldiers’ Association for an incroj.se in the allowance.
