At the Police Court to-day, M r Cohen, on behalf of the legal pro" fossion, protested against the delay in hearing cases owing to no m*gistrato being available. It was about six weeks since a magistrate sat in a Police Court jurisdiction. There is a great accumulation of cases, some seventy awaiting hearing. The need for a resident maigstrate was strongly urged. ,■
