Lomlou, Jhu. 29. In the House of Commons Mr Macpherson stated that 70 British aeroplanes had ascended against the raiders. About 10 raiders had readied Loudon. .Some casualties were due to the people crowding raid shelters.
It is officially stated that two groups of raiders crossed the Essex coast and one group the Kent coast and proceeded towards London. The latter dropped bombs on Thanet Isle and Sbeppey Isle. They crossed the estuary of the Thames, approaching East ' Loudon " through Essex. About fifteen participated in the attack. Four or live reached the capital and bombed various districts. Later on other aeroplanes crossed the Essex coast, one of which readied Loudon and dropped bombs. Two Flying Corps scouts after a brief fight at closer ange set fire to an enemy aeroplane over Essex, which fell in flames. Tne crew of three were burned to edath. AH our machines returned safely. It is officially announced that in last night’s air raid, 14 men, 17 women, and 16 children were killed. Ninety-three men. 59 women and 17 children were injured. All the casualties occurred in Loudon with the exception of one killed and seven injured. The material damage is not serious.
