The Prime Minister stated to-day that the Government hud purchased for the purpose of soldier settlement the property in Otago, known as Teviot, consisting of 12,500 acres freehold and 10,000 re res of Crown leasehold. The greater part of it will be cut up into sheen farms. A considerable portion of it is suitable for agricultural purposes during the present season. A snuM proportion is suitable for fruit-grow-ing. This is looked upon as one of the best of largo holdings now remaining in the South island.
