President Wilson has issued a proclamation asking Americans to reduce wheat consumption hy SO per c eut and tc observe Mondays and Wednesdays as wheatlesa days, Tuesdays as meatlelss, Saturdays as porkless davs and one wheatless meal daily- President Wilson declared that the sacrifices are necessary to meet a great responsibility as 'Europe’s subsistence rests very largely on our shoulders. Mr Hoover announced that bakers hereafter shall make victory bread, which must not contain more than 80 por cent of wheat. He has also Tiimounced that the Government ivill purchase thirty per cent of the nation’s Hour output,totalling three millions of bushels monthly, for exportation to the Allies.
