The shortage of shipping for tho carriage of coal from West Coast ports is seriously discommoding at least one of tho companies miningcoal there. In the House of Representatives, Mr Wohh spoke of a trouble at the Brunner mine, tho trouble being that the company could not'pay the miners’ wages. Tho Minister of Mines (Hon. W. D. S. MacDonald) said that he had hoen in touch with the agents of the company, and tho fact was that tho ' company was unable to pay wages on tho ordinary pay day on account of delay in shipping coal. Immediately tho coal could he taken away the company would he able to pay. He understood that although the mine was idle the company had no intention, of stopping the pumps and allowing the mine to iiood.
