HUNTERVILLE NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent). Mr S. Alderaon, of Eewa, left on Monday morning for camp. This is the second time for Mr Aldersou to offer his services, as he went through the Gallipoli campaign, where he received a wound in the knee. It will he learned with regret that Mr H. Rae, of Sandon Block, has been killed whilst fighting at the front. The deepest sympathy will be extended to Mrs E, H. Adkins and Miss Ray, sisters of the deceased, in their sad bereavement.
The friends of Mr J, G. Bar thorp, Silverhope, will be pleased to hear that bis son is now ma king satisfactory progress after bis serious illness. Mr Barthorp, jun., is confined to the hospital at Palmerston, and his condition has been causing his relatives grave anxiety. Tim howling green will not heopened until Wednesday, 35)th inst., the recent rainy weatberjhaving left it too wet. The local cadets were fitted with new uniform on Monday evening last and Sergt.-Major Sanders, of Martou, instructed the lads to appear in their uniforms regularly. In the past only’ a few of the cadets had uniforms, so did not wear them on account of appearing conspicuous.
