AMUSEMENTS.

“BUNTY PULLS THE STRINuS.” TOWN HALL, MART ON, TO-NIGHT. In “BuntjV the winsome charming character, created by Mr * Graham Moffat in his famous Scotch Comedy “Bunty Pulls the Strings,” which is to be produced at the Town Hall to-night at 8 p.m. Mr Moffat lias added to the academy of stage characters which are world-famous in theatrical literature. “Bunty” will be interpreted by Miss Ella Young during the play’s tour of New Zealand, and she is considered, by the author, to be the finest “Bunty” he has yet seen. The '“Sydney Referee” describes “Bunty” as “a wholly kyrk-bred product, entirely, absolutely, and unwaveringly Scottish, from the tip of her tiny black shoes to her oldfashioned ‘bun.’ Shrewd, levelheaded grimly, puritanically economical, self-willed, and entirely capable, yet withal wholly feminine and lovable, she presents a picture of absorbing interest to all true lovers of human nature. Although she rides rough-shod over the objections and prejudices of mere man, she does so.by means of her attributes as a woman her native cleverness mating Iwr real se just how potent these weapons are. Life to ner is a serious business, and, in her capable hands-a mere girl of nineteen—domestic economy becomes a science, a thing of unspoiled perfection. That is her life, drab enough in all conscience, but she goes through it smilingly, content to abide by the bigoted standards, that make whistling on the a hideous offence, m which she has been brought up. If she thinks it necessary to flaunt convention she does so with no misgivings, secure iu her own independence and strength. A sure sense of practicability guides all her actions, but dees not subjugate the curiosity and rebellion at the rule of man that have descended to her as a legacy from Old Mother Eve.”
