Per Press Association. Invercargill, Deo. 1. The Supreme Court opened today before Mr Justce Sim. There are only four criminal cases, and His Honour said the Grand Jury would have little difficulty in dealing with them, and true bills were returned on each. Henry Morrison was charged (1) 'with discharging a revolver with intent to do grievous bodily harm to Francis Adolphus Hughes, and (3) with atsaultiug the same man and causing him actual bodily harm. He was found guilty on the second count with a recommendation to mercy, and was fined £2O, to be 'imprisioned until the amount was paid for not exceeding three months. Accused is (33 years of age. John Cane, charged with discharging firearms to intimidate, was found not guilty. William Henry Latham, a Singer Sewing machine employee, pleaded guilty of misappropriation of £l3, and was sentenced to hard labour for twelve mouths. In the cage of Thcmas Stone, charged with threatening, with intent to extort money, accused failed to appear when called. Accused’s counsel produced a letter, in which accused said he had-gone to the war aa a motor transport driver. The Crown Prosecutor, “He has been fined tour or live times for furious driving.
