HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT.

The following is the High Commissioner’a cable, dated London, February 20th:— Note: Quotations unless otherwise specified are average market prices on spot:—
Mutton: North Island weight as high as 4%d; dull sale for heavy carcases of mutton at 4)^d. Lamb; Fair demand for better grades at reduced price ; other than Canterbury 6 5-16 d, but 6%d can be obtained for very best quality.
Beef: Stocks of New Zealand beef on hand light and market remains firm ; hinds fores 4d ; supplies of American chilled beef large; hinds sfores 4d, Butter: Market firmer ; new season’s Siberian butter is in the market; Danish 128 sto 126 a; New Zealand, more business doing at 114 sto 116 s; Australi an and Siberian market steady at 110 s to 114 s; Argentine 110 s to 112 s.
Cheese: Market quiet ami steady; Canadian white 69s to 71a, coloured 70sto j2s; New Zealand white 63s 6d to 643 6d, coloured 65s 6d to 675; Australian white 64a, coloured 665. Hemp: Hew Zealand market continues dull; good fair £25 ss, fair £23; forward shipment about 5s above these quotations ; quotations nominal. Manila: Fair current £27; forward shipment £26 10a; output from Manila for the week, 21,000 bales.
Wool: Market stronger, especially for crossbred which is very firm. Cocksfoot: Market quiet, buyers not keen to do business in cocksfoot a ed, '
Wheat: Market quiet and firm; supplies moderate. Oats: Market quiet with tendency in favour of buyers. Beans; Market dull, prices irregular.
Peas: Market steady, holders firm
