Heavy rain fell before breakfast at Ellerslio this morning, but eased somewhat about 9 o’clock, but lighter rain fell throughout training operations making matters unpleasant for final gallops. All work was done on the sand. Kakama ran seven furlongs in Iruin 34sec. Merrimax with the best of tbs weights beat Moutiform over a round oir the sand in 2mi)i Isec. Waimangu took 2min ssec to cover a similar distance. Virtue easily beat The Chief over a round in 2min 4seo. Prophet did three rounds at a strong three-quarter pace, but walked away very sore. Delegate did a round iu Sm'in 3sec. Prince Eddie was going better than Whakaweira at the end of a mile ni liniu 55sec. Flingot and Idealism were together six lengths in front of Game at the end I of a mile and a half, the last round taking 2min osec. Lady Georgia was going better "than Eocene at the end of five furlongs in Imin osec. Loch Mubin and Fort William were together at the end of a mile, with Gloy beaten off, in liniu 49sec. North East, Crown Pearl and Royal Arms were in that order at the end of live furlongs in Imin 7sec. Wee Olga ran seven furlongs iu Imin 33sec. Sea Pink was better than Red Book over six furlongs in Imin 21sec. Faith and Lady Elgiva were together at the end of six furlongs in Imin 20sec. Frontiuo and Admiral Sonlt started for a round over the hurdles. The former jumped well. The latter refused and was afterwards |takeu off. Tim Doolau did a round over the hurdles in good style. Sky High and Poictiers did a similar Jtask and jumped well. Noble went a round ot the hurdles, jumping wsll. Timothy and Explosive did a similar task. Glenmore, Doraudo, Bercola, Red Me Gregor, Bismarck, and Hautere went a round of the big fences, the latter continuing on alone for another round. All fenced well. Hautere and Doraudo pleased most Nupper Tandy and Napeuape started for a similar task, but the latter fell at the first fence of the double, the former continuing on alone without mishap The Native and Fireworks did a round ;of the big country, fencing well. A large number of others also exercised.
