Christchurch, November 4. The O. J. C. Meeting was continued in'; miserable weather, , with a cold southerly rain driving over the course. The going is soft and the attendance small. 'Results: — 1 Middleton Hurdles, 1% miles. — White Cockade 1, Fashibn Plate 2, Gold Pin 3. All started. Won all the way.; ; Time, min 27sec. Golden Loop lost hier rider. Criterion - Handicap, 7 furlongs, Soldier’s Chorus 1, Peirene 2, Ceylon 3. All started. Bootle led round the turn from Merry Frank, with Culprit next. At the distance Soldier ’ s Chorus got through on the rails and won'- by a length from Peirene, who finished fast. Time, lmin.3osec. • Irwell Handicap, four furlongs.— Fender 1, Zeus 2, Immer 3. Scratched: Warstep. Perohella was first to show out, but the ,placed horses caught her ,at the distance,. Fender winning by' nearly a length. Time, SOsec. : Derby Stakes, 1% miles.—Bon Reve 1, Haskayne 2, Brown Owl 3. Also; ran: Bon Ton, Gnome, Autnmnus, and Carolus. The winner led all : the way, and won easily bv a length from Haskayne; with Brown Owl four lengths away: Time, 2min 42seci Juvenile Plate, five furlongs.— Ventura 1, The Hague 2, Bonny Helen s. Also ran: Warstep, Martel, Nightwatch, .Prince Laddo, and Secret Link. Won all the way. Time, Imin 3seo. Metropolitan Handicap, 1% miles. —Bobrikoff and Goldfinder, dead heat, 1; Sinapis 3. Also ran: Los Angelos, Undecided, Masterpiece, Sea Queen, Ooroniform, Domino, Merrivonia, Mendip; Sandstream, Brown Trout, Allegory, Mira, Odessa and True Knight, Bobrikoff led out of the straight, but going down the back Goldfinder appeared /on the scene, and after a neck-and-neck race flashed past the post together. Time, 2min 39sec. Epsom High Weight Handicap, six furlongs.—Potoa 1, Query 2, My Lawyer 3. Also ran: Crown Pearl, Hermia, Pilgrim’s Way, Styx, Peroneal, Balaclava, Peary, Glenfinnan? Kilts, Mount Victoria, _ Colleen Mary, Oxenhope, Teviotdale, Early Morn, Bracken, Lady Marcia, Distinction and Andrea. Wop by a length and a half. Time, Imin 16seo. ■'
Ashley Handicap; one mile. —Gold Ring 1, Pliroso 2, Owlietoro 3. Also ran : Scottish Star, Canute, Editah, Oourtley, Warlight, Umeraboy, and British Crown. Phro'sb jumped out of the harrier very quickly, and at once took the lead , from British Crown, with Gold Ring next. This order- was maintained till • the straight was reached, when Gold Ring was brought to the front with a well-timed run and eventually won by nearly two lengths, three lengths between second and third.
