Replying to an address presented at Tuparoa His Excellency said it would ba an insult to talk to the people of New Zealand about loyalty after having lived four years amongst them. Mauy'young men from this Dominion had fougiit for the King, and Sir Joseph Ward had cabled to the Imperial Government offering a first-class battleship costing one million and a quarter pounds. New Zealand’s loyal offer would be talked of all over the world. (Cheers). He took this opportunity of informing them of the offer and as representative of the King spoke of their loyalty. He knew they would all stick together to support the Empire. He referred to New Zealand’s loyalty in being the first to offer assistance in the Boer War. He had to thank the sea for being calm he supposed because he had called his sonKiwa. .Luncheon then took place in the store shed which was beautifully decorated.
