THE S A VILE CUP. The semi-finals for the Savile Cop were played yesterday afternoon. There was a large attendance, inclnding Lady Plunket and party. Eaugitikei met Maugaheia, |and though the Poverty Bay men made a hard tight, Rangitikei won easily by 7 goals to 2. Hawke’s Bay A (the holders) v. Parewanui, was faster and more interesting, Parewanui battling hard. Though Hawke’s Bay led throughout it was only in the last spell that they greatly outclassed their opponents. Maugaheia (2)A. B. Williams, G. M. Reynolds, R. Reynolds, J. R. Murphy. Rangitikei (7): —G. H. Wilson, K. Dalrymple, H. White, R. A. Wilson. For Rangitikei White fscored first jvith a long shot. Shortly afterwards H. Wilson scored. Rangitikei again swept down, but Maugaheia charged back over the line the spell ending Rangitikei 2 to nil. Shortly after the start Reynolds, of Maugaheia, put in a splendid run the whole leugth of the field, and his shot was only stopped in the mouth of the goal. Rangitikei swept back and some hard play in front of the goal resulted in EjDalrymple scoring—3 to 0. G. Reynolds again made a fine hit, and following up scored for Maugaheia shortly afterwards making a fine outside charge and centering spldhdidly, hot there was no one there to put it through, the spell ending 3 to 1. Rapgitikei immediately charged, and the ball was carried to the centre of Mangaheia'a goal where, after three misses it was put through by Dalrymple, 4 to 1. Rangitikei charged over the line, and rrom the throw in a melee took place in front of the goal, White scoring a simple goal, which, however, was disallowed, and the spell ended, 4 to 1,

Rangitikei scored again by H. Wilson shortly after the recommencement. sto 1. Mangabeia were given a free hit but Rangitikei stopped and charged, H. Wilson scoring, 6 to 1.

In next spell each side charged in turn, but no score resulted. ' The last spell began bn similar lines, but Rangitikei were first to take advantage of an opening and Dalrymple scored. Shortly afterwards the Poverty Bay men retaliated with a combined rush, Reynolds scoring, and the game ended in favour of Rangitikei—7 to 2. Hawke’s Bay (12) D. Ormond, O. Nelson, H. A. Parewanui (5): —Lynn McKelvie, Nelson Scott, J. McKelvie, Stewart McKenzie,

Hawke’s Bay scored in the first minute by H, Russell. Directly afterwards they swept back to the opposite goal and scored again, 2 to nil. Parewanui then charged, scoring from a melee before the goal. Hawke’s Bay retaliated with another good rush and scored, 3—l. Offside play gave Hawke’s Bay a free hit, but the ball went out, ending he spell, 3 —l. In the next spell Hawke’s Bay opened with a score, 4 and shortly after scored another 5

Parewanui showed speed in the next spell and a dribble hy L. McKelvie narrowly missed the goal. Shortly afterwards Parewanui rushed again and Scott scored, 5 —2. Parewanui swept back again, but Hawke’s Bay took charge, and some pretty combination resulted in scoring, 6—2. Good play by Scott and L. McKelvie took the ball to the Hawke’s Bay end and Scott scored a clever goal, 6—3. Shortly afterwards Hawke’s Bay charged again and after some hard defence W. O. A. Mackenzie scored, 7—3. The spell ended with Hawke’s Bay defending. Shortly after resuming Scott scored a goal with a strong, well directed hit, 7—4. Hawke’s Bay were awarded a penalty hit at goal from 60yds and in the melee that followed a collision took place between Scott and Nelson, ponies and riders both coming to the ground. Hawke’s Bay rushed and a goal was only saved on the line by McKelvie. Shortly afterwards Hawke’s 1 Bay scored, B—4. Scott, of Parewanui, got going, and scored a very fine goal, B—s, and thus the spell ended. In the last spell Hawke’s Bay scored four goals in quick succession, the game ending 12—5. Scott scored the goals for Parewanui, and for Hawke’s Bay H. Russell 4, J. D. Ormond 1, W. O. A. Mackenzie 5, O, Nelson 2. TO-DAY’S PROGRAMME. ~To day the matches for the Handicap Oup will be continued, when Manawatu A (2) will play Christchurch (16) and Hawke’s Bay B (7) will play Managheia (6). The final for the Saville Oup between the holders, Hawke’s Bay A and Rangitikei will be played on Friday. v
