KIMBOLTON SPORTS.
Yesterday afternoon there was a large attendance at the Kimbolton Spots held in the cricket gounds. Until late in f the afternoon the sun was very hot, and the people took refuge under the grateful shelter of the trees skirting the ground. The lunch baskets were opened, and old friends commiserated with one another upon the dryness of the season. The gate receipts were £l7 10s. Mr S. Daw's Band was in attendance and played throughout the afternoon. There was a very attractive programme, keen interest being taken more particularly in the high jump, tilting competition, district trot handicap, and horse high jump. S. Richardson and J. Shapleski, two local athletes, keenly contested the high jump, the former just clearing sft. lin. in the third attempt. The nominations for the pedestrian events did not come in very freely, the 100 yards handicap being the only one of these events that it was neoess_ry to run in heats.
