A SHIP ASHORE.
Per Press Association. Auckland, March 1. A telegram from Parengarenga, North of Auckland, states that the Forrest Hall was wrecked on .Saturday morning on the West Coast, about 20 miles south-east of Cape Maria Van Dieman. j Near Te Arai Bluff, the spot where the ship came ashore, is a somewhat lonely spot. Residents of Parengarenga, on the East Coast, do not seem to have been aware of the wreck until late in the day. The ship was'on her way to Chilian ports from Newcastle loaded with about 3000 tons of coal. She had been 31 days out from her port of departure, and she apparently had been blown out of her course considerably, as she should haye passed to the north of the Three Kings. About 930 a.m. the vessel went ashore and all on board were able to reach the beach in safety, but it is feared that the heavy seas which came in on the West Coast will break np the ship before any refloating operations can be attempted. The Forrest Hall was an iron, full-rigged ship, 2053 tons register, in command of Captain P. A. Logan. O. G. Dunu and Co., of Liverpool, are the owners.
