—'' ' 1 “ There was a large attendance of farmers and others at the Drill Mall) Wanganui, on Tuesday, when the well known Lily Bank Estate at Westmere was offered at auction by Mr Percy Forking, who wielded the hammer in conjunction with Messrs O. A. Preece and Co,, of (Palmerston North. Altogether 35 sections were offered, including 15 half-aero sections immediately opposite the Westmere railway station. Tho sale was a.most successful one iu every way, competition for tho majority of tiro lots being very keen. All the sections wero sold at or immediately after the sale with the exception of two 28.ac.ce hlocfeg adjoining the Grand Estate, which did‘ not quite reach tho reserves. The result of tho sale is couclusive evidence as to the popularity of tho Westmere , district ainong farmers and agriculturists generally and the closer settlement of the locality and tho addition of a large number of new farmers should give a decided stimulus to this already prosperous aud favourite district.
