THE ATTACK ON LIBERTY.

Rotorua Residents IndignantPress Association, Rotorua, July IS. The Chamber of Commerce to-day wired Chambers of Commerce in the colony as follows: “Rotorua Town Bill is being rushed through in undvfe haste, therefore wire your representatives to oppose the third reading to-morrow (Tuesday). Residents have had no time to consider same; very important.” The following telegram was sent to Sir Joseph Ward: —Residents very surprised at the attempt to rush Rotorua Town Bill without a chance of consideration as to its effects. Kindly postpone third reading. There has been unseemly haste and it is certainly nob just to leaseholders, who should certainly have a voice in the management of the town. A telegram was also sent to MrHerrlos urging him to oppose the third reading, and a letter posted to him this morning. Residents consider the action of Government most unconstitutional.
