ANDREW BLACK—PREYSLAV CONCERT.
Leopold Premyslav, tho Polish violinist, who visits Marton on Wednesday 19th June, with Mr Andrew Black, is a very talented and interesting musician. He is young and of medium height aud wears neither extraordinary clothes nor tangled hair to denote his artistic temperment. Though he is singularly modest, he lias been an honoured guest in the palaces of many Kings, and he wears handsome decorations bestowed on him by the Emperor of Germany, tho Sultan of Turkey and the King of Sweden. In Shanghai tho European ladies -subscribed 2000 dollars to present him with a silver, massive bowl. The Tientsin ladies, not to be outdone, subscribed and pnrchasd a larger one, which they sent to his homo iu Paris. Premyslav -knows the art of pleasing his public and as encores to the more classical pieces, ho invariably plays popular pleasant airs, that everyone knows and likes to hear. Mr Premyslav is a powerful attraction to concert goers. Mr Andrew Black is midohtedly one of tho foremost vocalists iu tho world, and his splendid singing is still fresh iu the minds of Now Zealanders. Supported by Miss Rosina Buckman, soprano, and Miss Bossio Beatty, pianist, the company is one of rare all-round excellence. Tho hooking is very brisk aud a big house assured.
