KIMBOLTON RABBIT COMMITTEE.

Tho Kimholton Rabbit Committee hold a meeting in the Druids’ Hall on Saturday evening. Present.—Mr Jackson in the chair, Messrs Grab be, Hawthorne. P. Shapleski, G. Warner and Inspector Johnston, The first business was the election of a chairman owing to Mr Hammond having loft tho district. Mr Crabhe proposed and Mr Anderson seconded that Mr Jackson he ap-1 pointed to fill the vacancy. r-Oarried. j It was proposed by My Crabhe and seconded, by F, gliapleski that a special meeting ho called for 23ud June, notice of same to appear in each paper, the matter to be dealt with being tho laying of poison. Inspector Johnston then gave a few remarks regarding his work in the district. He said that during the month of April lie had destroyed 520 scalps and for May 800, making a total of 1830 for the two mouths. Since coming to the district ho had destroyed over 3000 scalps; that is including Kimljoltou, those numbers are for the lower part of his district He says that wherever he goes he finds a number of rabbits but in most cases the farmers are working well to keep them down. He received 79 from one man on Spur Road and 101 from another at Halcombe, so that they are everywhere. I must again draw the attention of the Kimholton farmers to the great want of interest shown by them in not attending the meetings called for their benefit. I hope to see them roll up hotter iu ■ future. If wo are going to do any ! good we must work unitedly, other- ■ wise stronger measures will have to |bo taken. The’’ time lias come when ! \ve must work to protect ourselves : it is no good to mince matters about it, so I hope they will shoy; more interest iu future.
