TUAKAU.
THE INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC (To the Editor.) Sir,—Permit me through the medium of your paper, on behalf of the citizens of Tuakau to thank the band of noble ladies and gentlemen who organised to fight the epidemic that struck Tuakau with such force. They did not stop to consider dangers seen or unseen, did not count cost, loss, expefce, but went to work fith one unite* effort for the welfaJß of every persVi within their Jeach. Some of tlrae self-denyingjersons did 50 hour* on a stretojF whilst others labourm until indpacitated by being affecfcd by thewontagion. The latter we axe pleajid to report are now convawscenjpwith the exception of Mr mßaJrPeacock, who was full of energm |md devotion to duty. Our prayefr are that he may soon'be restored JEhis usual health. Special thanks jfoipraise are due to the doctors who laboured in ; our midst, makinjf theirmalls all day and in many cagjjS at mimight aid amtd rain or sujphine. \ Our ntsse (Nurse Wyke), whose were fortunate in having, was thf right woman \ the right place./ \ To the Methodist body, *|o placed the church at our disposal ■Fatuously, and to Mr Revell who afc> gave us free use of his hall, to be nped as hospitals we beg to offer our unbounded thanks. I will not further trespass on your valuable space other than to once again thank one and all for their united labours in successfully combating (will I call it) influenza ? or what is it ?—Yours etc. W.
