WAIPIPI.
THE ANNUAL SPORTS.
The am.ual sports fixture at Waipipi took place on Wednesday, St. Patrick 'a Day, in a paddock kmrily lent by Mr J. Jones. The early morning was marked by unpromising weather conditions, which unfortunately developed into showers that made matters somewhat uncomfortable. There was a large attendance, people being present from all along the peninsula and from Waiuku district. The sport was very good considering the conditions, and but for the rain, which most pefjple in the district were waiting badly, a very enjoyable function would have resulted. Under the circumstances everybody made the best 'of the situation, although the day'a outing was rather spoilt bv the adverse weather. The officials handled the events with commendable promptness and deserve a word of praise for their efficiency. Following are the chief results:—Maiden—R. McDonald 1. 220 yds Hurdles—A. Irwin 1, S. Irwin 2. 100yds—F. Hanlling ], Irwin 2, W. Woodward ir,d R. McDonald tie fur third. Cup, 120yds-S. Bright J, A. Irwin 2, Handing 3. 440yds-K. Coulthard 1, W. G. Hamilton 2, P. Bright 3. 880 yds—P. Bright 1, Irwin 2, Hamilton •'!.
