GLENBROOK.

A meeting of the Hall Committee was held recently, and it W3S decided to go on with the erection of the additions required, to consist of ladies' and gentlemen's dressing rooms. Messrs J. D. Chalmers and Hodgkinson were appointed to get the work done, and it is hoped they will get on with it as soon as possible. The opinion has been generally expressed in this district that the notes of your travelling representative re cattlj being driven through the main street of the Waiuku village were very much wanted, 3rd it Uto b« hoped that the local autho.ities will take the necessary steps to get the evil remedied. It is time Waiuku residents got oat of their sleepy ways, and made the village more in keeping with trie times. Let us hope ihat whei the new post office is erected it will be the ror runner of a rew public hall, which is very much required, as the present one has been too small for some years past. The residents of Glenbrook, as well as the other districts surrounding Waiuku, are anxious to see the township made, so that they would be proud to show strangers its beauties. At the present tim: th2 least shown the better. LEAP YEAR BALL. Owing to the untiring efforts of the ladies' committee the Leap Year ball held in the Hall on Friday evening, 22nd inst., proved a huge success, visitors coming from Waiuku, Otaua and all surrounding districts. About 40 coupljs were present. The hall was tastefully decorated with evergreens and flowers, and considerable time had been spent on the floor to make it in the perfect condition it proved to be. A lengtny dance programme was submitted, and the first streaks of daylight wers not far oil' when the last, waltz wa3 played. A liberal and sumptuous supply of comestibles was provided by the ladies and duly appreciated. Mrs Hargrove? successfully carried out the duties of M.C. till midnight, when the remainder of the programme was handed over to Mr H. Uumfurd, coiKlucte.l the ceivmonies in his -jsual genial manner. Excellent music was supplied by Mr McMahon, if Pukekohe, on the piano, extras being Kindly ployed by Miss J. little and Mr .1. Wattam. The committee are to be congratulated on the success of the function, a.d it is to be hoped SJIII9 Leap Year will follow.
